Abstract

In Brazil, dependence on imports for pharmaceutical and agrochemical raw materials is significant. The development of new organic molecules, especially on an industrial scale, is crucial to reduce this dependence and promote the country as an exporter of high-value-added inputs. Investments in research are necessary to synthesize new molecules with pharmacological properties, minimizing side effects of existing medications. Molecular modification is essential in this process, using techniques such as molecular docking and molecular dynamics. The incorporation of chalcogens, particularly selenium, into organic compounds has gained prominence due to their useful properties and biological activities. Visible light-mediated synthesis shows promise for this purpose, offering an economical and effective approach. Recent focus includes the sustainable development of bioactive molecules, incorporating heterocycles and selenium atoms. The objective of the proposal is to prospect via molecular docking and synthesize selenylated analogs of known drugs, followed by toxicological and pharmacological evaluation. Sustainable methodologies will be employed, such as catalytic and photochemical reactions, as well as the use of green solvents and alternative energies. (AU)
