Expansion of Data Storage Capacity at CNPEM through Connectivity to Rednesp

Abstract

The National Center for Research in Energy and Materials (CNPEM) seeks, through this Annual Plan, to expand the institution's data storage capacity in order to keep up with the significant increase in information traffic resulting from the recent upgrade in internet connectivity, from 100Mbps to 10Gbps. This expansion is crucial to meet the growing demand for efficiency in monitoring and cybersecurity systems, which have been processing increasingly larger volumes of data and logs. The acquisition aims to increase storage capacity and optimize the management of large data volumes, essential for cybersecurity and infrastructure monitoring. The current storage infrastructure has shown limitations, making it difficult to retain logs and records, directly impacting threat detection and incident analysis. By expanding storage capacity, CNPEM will ensure greater efficiency in data monitoring and incident response, ensuring compliance with security and auditing standards, while also preparing the institution for future increases in data traffic and security requirements. The proposed solution is cost-effective and efficient, as it leverages the existing infrastructure, avoiding additional costs for new technologies and ensuring compatibility with current systems. The expansion will ensure the secure continuity of CNPEM's scientific and administrative operations in a high-performance environment. (AU)
