Abstract

The project's main proposal is to develop formulations containing intelligent nanoparticles, to be used as seed priming to protect seeds against pathogens during storage, as well as to improve plant germination and growth. The term "priming" consists of soaking the seed in a solution with known osmotic potential before being taken to germination. Recent studies have shown that the use of nanoparticles as seed priming has shown considerable improvements in the phenotypic indices of plant growth and development, such as high germination rates, biomass accumulation, stem and root elongation, in addition to increasing resistance of crops to conditions of abiotic or biotic stress. Thus, seed priming with nanoparticles has contributed to reducing the use of pesticides and fertilizers in the environment, providing a more sustainable agriculture. Therefore, in this project it is expected, in addition to the development of new nanoparticles, to create hybrid formulations capable of acting synergistically and specifically in the coating of seeds for agriculture.
