Abstract

This proposal deals with the implementation of a Center of Sciences for the Development of Renewable Energies and Future Fuels in conjunction with the Secretary of Environment, Infrastructure, and Logistics (SEMIL), through its Undersecretary of Energy and Mining (SEM), to address current challenges related to the decarbonization of the industry and transport in São Paulo with economically viable and environmentally friendly routes. Specifically, this center will seek solutions for the implementation of low-carbon intensity Hydrogen with the following research verticals: (i) Production, (ii) Storage and Transportation, (iii) Uses and Applications and (iv) Regulation, in order to seek the leadership of the State of São Paulo in the development of advanced technologies and the promotion of the national hydrogen industry. To address the complexity of these issues, the formation of a partnership network is essential, and in this proposal, IPT joins forces with the Polytechnic School of USP, UFSCAR, UFPR, UFABC, the ISI of Electrochemistry and the Brazilian Wind Energy Association (ABEEólica), to ensure the strategic alignment of the topics addressed with the industry's needs. This alignment will allow the development of the national supply chain for components related to the use of H2 as an energy source. The institutions actively participated in structuring the topics to be developed at the CCD-ERCF, including the definition of goals and economic counterparties. Considering the sustainability of the Center, partnership and communication plans have been devised that will allow the future development of new lines of research and the incorporation of new companies, strengthening ties with different industry sectors and promoting the transfer of technologies, becoming a hub for the use of Hydrogen as a fuel of the future. It is important to emphasize that companies from different economic sectors have shown interest and provided letters of support for the establishment of the CCD-ERCF, envisioning collaborative participation in future projects.
