Abstract

This joint project aims to obtain experimental data from an HTL reactor at the laboratory of P&E at TU Delft. The data will include the chemical composition and physicochemical characterizations of the bio-oil and biochar. After that, the data will be provided to the Brazilian team, who will model the HTL bio-oils using chemical engineering software, Aspen Plus. The modeling phase will conclude with the creation of a surrogate model using a multi-objective optimization algorithm. In terms of composition, the algorithm will incorporate an estimate of the weight percentage of the key components identified in actual chromatographic analyses provided from TU Delft, along with the chemical groups contained in the bio-oils.
