Abstract

Hospital Sírio-Libanês (HSL) understands that research is vital to the excellence, pioneering spirit, quality, and innovation of any institution. HSL consistently invests in two types of research: Translational, dedicated to generating basic scientific knowledge for application in clinical practice, and Clinical, focused on carrying out clinical trials on human beings to develop new drugs, technologies, and care processes. HSL's main areas of investment are Oncology, Cardiology, Orthopaedics, Geriatrics, and Neurology, and the points in common between all these areas are the need to collect, store, and package biological material from patients and their organized digital records available to researchers. One of the main barriers to projects and the continuity of services that depend on this material seems to be access to properly preserved samples associated with quality clinical information that is organized and accessible to researchers. Aware that the resources of the Institutional Technical Reserve (RTI) granted by FAPESP aim to support the establishment of a research infrastructure that benefits researchers and research projects funded by FAPESP, we request the use of this RTI to expand the refrigerated storage infrastructure (two -20oC freezers), as well as to update the technology and expand the number of laptops (two notebooks) used by our technicians in the sample processing laboratories, to optimize the registration and digital management of these samples in modern and fast machines. Approving this RTI will benefit researchers and projects at our research center and boost the quality of the Translational Research we carry out at our institution.¿ (AU)
