EMU - GAMMA CAMERA

Abstract

The project proposes the acquisition of a Multi-User Equipment (EMU) GAMA CAMERA for the MULTI-USER LABORATORY OF HCFMRP-USP. The principal investigator is an Associate Professor III at FMRP-USP with experience in managing national and international multi-user research projects in nuclear medicine and molecular imaging. This proposal aims to support the Thematic Project led by Prof. Dr. José Antonio Marin Neto, an associate researcher of this proposal. The objective of this EMU is to ensure the continuity of research projects, as it will replace obsolete equipment used as an EMU but not yet registered as one, which will be discontinued in 2024. The proposed EMU is a modern and versatile device capable of conducting various scintigraphic studies in areas such as neurology, oncology, cardiology, nephrology, hepatobiliary, endocrinology, and oncological surveillance. Its noteworthy features include the ability to provide static and dynamic planar images, as well as 3D acquisitions through SPECT technique. The equipment will positively impact the conducted research, increasing detection sensitivity by 15% and optimizing acquisition protocols. Its installation will not require significant renovations, leveraging the existing infrastructure in the laboratory. The institution's counterpart will involve equipment maintenance, personnel training, and making the EMU available to all multi-user research groups at HCFMRP-USP and partner institutions. The project aims to contribute significantly to advances in medical research, innovation, and the training of qualified human resources. (AU)
