EMU Multi-ICB3 Project: Acquisition of equipment for renovation and modernization of histological techniques, electronic microscopy sample preparation, and molecular analyses from the Multi-User Center of the Anatomy Department of ICB-USP.

Abstract

The Multi-User Laboratory of Anatomy Department, Multi-ICB3, was opened in 2001 through FAPESP funding (process 2000/05530-8) as a proposal to modernize the Anatomy Department. Equipment for histology, electron and light microscopy, molecular biology, analytical equipment, among others, was acquired. Since then, MULTI-ICB3 has been part of the department's research routine and aims to provide quality equipment and services for its internal community, for the ICB and other institutions at USP and outside USP. This strategy was fundamental for sharing equipment and resources, which greatly optimized public resources, helping to boost quality research in the Department of Anatomy (DA). Currently, the DA is made up of 19 RDIDP teachers, who are renowned researchers and leaders in various areas of biomedical research, and 6 technical employees, three exclusives to Multi-ICB3. Due to the growing demand from technology-based startups to conduct their research, we consider the renewal and modernization of part of our equipment to be a priority and strategic. It is a strategic area for researchers at ICB and USP, and we can expand our offer and improve what we already have expertise in histology, for the preparation of samples for electron microscopy, as well as for molecular analysis. Therefore, the modernization of our facilities and the acquisition of new equipment is essential to maintain a quality infrastructure for our research and services for the DA, the ICB, USP and other public institutions.
