Abstract

This project aims, through the acquisition of equipment, to structure and continue a centralized laboratory (Facilitie) dedicated to the study of the pathophysiology of heart and vascular diseases. Therefore, the proposal will provide researchers responsible for associated and complementary projects, as well as other researchers in São Paulo, in an optimized, specialized and national way, with access to state-of-the-art echocardiographic technology for use in studies with laboratory animals. The EMU will enable the use of various cardiac and vascular morphofunctional analysis techniques, including M-mode, Doppler, two- and three-dimensional, strain and strain rate examinations in small animals. The techniques will initially be used in three associated projects and seven complementary projects, but can be used by researchers across the state of São Paulo. The use of these methodologies will enable important qualitative and quantitative advances in these projects, especially in the analysis of the impact of different therapies on the pathophysiology of cardiovascular diseases, which will provide greater competitiveness and international insertion of research. Furthermore, the multi-user equipment and the resulting expertise will increase the interaction of researchers with other study groups in the cardiovascular area, both in Brazil and abroad, considering that the adequacy of the equipment park with what exists in large research centers will allow the development of experiments that could not be conducted before. Thus, this proposal aims to obtain echocardiography equipment for cardiovascular studies under experimental conditions useful to several researchers in the state of São Paulo. (AU)
