Abstract
The proposed research project will investigate regional diversification trajectories in Brazil addressing: 1. How external knowledge flows may support and add to the local structures; 2. The differentiated roles that some agents (multinationals, universities, and so on) may play in diversification; 3. The interplay between scientific and technological capabilities; 4. The impact of the decarbonization transition on diversification prospects. Using a wide variety of data and quantitative analysis, mainly through complexity and network indicators, this project will provide evidence on understudied topics in an emerging economy context. At the institutional level, we aim to consolidate a line of research related to economic geography and regional innovation at UNESP Araraquara. (AU)
