Abstract
Water quality and availability represent significant challenges in today's world. The existing centralized treatment systems, with their inherent complexity and limitations that disregard local reuse, underscore the need for the integration of new technologies and decentralized systems. This integration is vital to ensuring sustainable water access and addressing issues related to water security. This project by a young researcher aims to develop and apply modular adaptable and decentralized systems based on advanced electrochemical technologies for water treatment and reuse. Encompassing the synthesis of new electrodes, reactor design, operational optimization, testing on real samples, and techno-economic analysis, it aims to establish an autonomous system with satisfactory cost-effectiveness, expanding access to water and contributing to reducing the water footprint. Aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, especially goal 6, which seeks to ensure access to clean water and sanitation for all, this project offers a resilient and modern approach to the constantly evolving challenges in the global water scenario.
