Abstract

The present project proposal aims the application of the study of the TWIP and TRIP phenomena (FAPESP 19/07178-6) to develop heterogeneous structures in face-centered cubic materials. Two configurations are proposed: 1) Study and modeling of structural gradients induced by deep burnishing on austenitic stainless steels; 2) Study of lamellar structures obtained by accumulative roll bonding (ARB) - in this case the materials will be copper and brass. The following objectives were outlined for both themes: 1) to determine appropriate tooling configuration and process parameters (feed, deformation rate, temperature) to generate gradient structures in austenitic steels with medium-low stacking fault energy (SFE); 2) complete characterization of the microstructure, residual stresses, and resulting mechanical properties; 3) application of constitutive equations to model the deep rolling process; 4) production of different configurations of volume fraction and layer thickness of laminated copper-brass structures; 5) numerical simulation of deformation distribution heterogeneities in the accumulative roll bonding process; 6) microstructural characterization and mechanical characterization of laminated sheets under different stress modes; 7) constitutive description of the TWIP effect in the lamellar microstructure. The multidisciplinary project involves collaboration between the materials engineering departments from UFSCar and Nanjing University of Science and Technology (Nanjing, China), and the mechanical engineering departments from UFSCar, EESC-USP, and Instituto Superior Técnico of the University of Lisbon (Lisbon, Protugal).
