Abstract

The present project is aimed to study and describe the diversity and evolution of Muscoidea (Muscidae) and Oestroidea (Tachinidae and Rhinophoridae) from the Neotropical Region. Under the taxonomic perspective, the project will study the inventory and the revision of supraspecific taxa (including the redescription of poorly known taxa and description of new taxa), as well as to provide identification keys, to contribute to the barcode databank in public repositories, and checklist and catalogues. Under the phylogenetic perspective, this project will study the phylogenetic relationships of neotropical taxa with morphological and molecular data to better understand the evolution and diversification of dipteran families in the Neotropics. Under the collection and curatorial perspective, this project will study the curation and mantainance/data uploading to digital platforms gathering taxonomic data as the Catálogo Taxonômico da Fauna do Brasil (CTFB), Taxonline Project and SiBBr Networking and, therefore, contribute to the socioenvironmental development of our country.
