Abstract
Integrated agricultural production systems (SIPA), already widely adopted in Brazil, can help Brazil meet its nationally determined contributions (CNDs). Additionally, the expansion of these production models has been an eligible strategy for public policy programs and tax incentives in the country, such as the ABC+ Program and the National Program for the Conversion of Degraded Pastures (PNCPD). Research conducted with SIPAs gathers a series of data on soil, climate, and different production arrangement strategies adapted to different soil and climate conditions in Brazil. Understanding the importance of this topic, the Center for Carbon Studies in Tropical Agriculture (CCARBON/USP) proposes, with the assistance and direct action of the Visiting Researcher, the development and structuring of a sectoral research chain in integrated production systems, articulating research results obtained by CEPID researchers, strengthening national and international partnerships, and articulating a collaborative network to assist in the dissemination of knowledge within the five major areas of activity: soil, plants and animals, gases, climate and digital tools. During the period of the visit, the researcher will actively participate in scientific meetings in order to organize and define work strategies that correspond to the objectives and goals of CCARBON.The researcher will participate in academic committees and in the activities of advising and co-advising undergraduate, master's and doctoral students, and supervising post-doctoral students, contributing to the training of human resources. She will teach undergraduate and graduate classes in the Department of Soil Science at the Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture. During the visit, she will participate in the organization of events and strategic research missions to strengthen the sectoral research chain at national and international levels. She will work on the preparation of proposals aimed at raising public and private resources in CCARBON's strategic themes, and will participate in the Technical and Communication axes of the technical-scientific alliance (CCARBON, FGV and EMBRAPA) for the development and improvement of protocols, monitoring and strategies for adaptation and mitigation of climate change in agriculture. The results obtained at the end of the visit will contribute to the consolidation of CCARBON's strategic lines of action, helping Brazil achieve its goals for a low-carbon economy, with SIPA as one of the pillars for more resilient and sustainable agriculture.
