Abstract

This proposal aims to propose the continuity of the activities of the current PRH 52.1 - Human Resources Training Program in Processing of Oil and Biofuels of the Federal University of Santa Maria. It was selected by 01/2018 PRH-ANP Call and ranked 4th at the PRH-ANP National Meeting in 2024, thus becoming an "eligible" PRH under 01/2025 PRH-ANP Call. For the aforementioned Call, this proposal presents an expansion in the scope of PRH 52.1 with the inclusion of the Graduate Program in Chemistry (PPGQ) at UFSM, which is ranked as CAPES Concept 7, and the change of its name to Human Resources Training Program in Processing and Quality Control of Oil and Renewable Fuels. Thus, the continuity of the activities of PRH 52.1 will enable undergraduate students in Chemical Engineering and Chemical Process Technology at UFSM, as well as students in master's and doctoral courses in Chemistry (PPGQ) and in Chemical Engineering (PPGEQ), to receive specialized and differentiated training, preparing these future professionals to work in the oil, gas and biofuels sector. The teaching staff of this proposal is made up of researchers with experience and experience in the area, with approximately 60% of them being CNPq research productivity (PQ) or technological innovation (DT) grantees. The emphasis of PRH 52.1 will be i) Biofuels; ii) Strategic minerals for the energy sector and iii) Decarbonization of oil and natural gas exploration and production activities, consistent with the experience and performance of the research groups involved. The physical and administrative infrastructure is suited to the execution of this proposal, consisting of several laboratories with equipment and instrumentation of a high degree of technological development and a secretariat to assist the grantees. The Federal University of Santa Maria has projects and sectors dedicated to the internationalization and exchange of grantees abroad, as well as to support R&D&I partnerships with companies in the sector, supporting the establishment and execution of cooperation agreements. The grantees will be selected through public notices and must take specific courses according to the list of subjects offered for each course, in addition to developing individual research work in the area and present it in written form, with oral defense. It is expected to train approximately seventy professionals qualified for the sector during the execution of this project. In short, this proposal is suitable for the continuity of PRH 52.1, increasing its scope, consolidating the sector's emphases, above all, demonstrating clear potential for the training of qualified human resources focused on the sector .
