Polymeric Additives and Nanosystems applied to the Energy Sector

Abstract

This proposal aims to expand the scope of PRH16.1, becoming the Postgraduate Program in Polymer Science and Technology at IMA/UFRJ, the Postgraduate Program in Nanotechnology Engineering at COPPE/UFRJ, the Postgraduate Program in Metallurgical and Materiais Engineering and the Undergraduate Courses at UFRJ in Nanotechnology, in Chemical Engineering, in Industrial Chemistry and Petroleum Chemistry. The objective is to train human resources with research development involving the application of polymers and nanosystems for the energy sector, covering energy transition and CO2 capture, to insert scholarship holders into the job market. The program covers the emphasis of: * Exploration, development and production, * Oil transportation and refining, * Nanotechnology and new materials, * Petrochemical of 1st and 2nd generation, and *Biofuels. Through the courses offered, the student will acquire specific knowledge of macromolecules (synthesis, modification, characterization, evaluation of behaviors and properties in general) and how to use this knowledge for application in the petroleum industry, in the general areas listed below, and will have deeper knowledge on the specific subjects selected for your research work. - Development of additive evaluation procedures; - Drilling, stimulation and completion techniques for oil wells; - Development of drilling fluid formulation; - Evaluation of clay swelling and development of inhibitors; - Evaluation of fluid drag and development of reducing additives; - Assessment of filtrate loss and development of filtrate controllers; - Assessment of gas hydrate formation and development of controlling additives; - Assessment of petroleum paraffin deposition and development of inhibitors; - Assessment of petroleum asphaltenes deposition and development of inhibitors; - Assessment of deposition of naphthenate salts and development of inhibitors; - Assessment of inorganic scale and development of deposition inhibitors; - Development of fluids for well stimulation by acidification, acid fracturing and hydraulic fracturing; - Corrosion assessment and development of inhibitors. - Assessment of foaming in oils and development of inhibitors; - Assessment of oil viscosity and development of viscosity reducers; - Development of systems for special recovery methods (compliance control; reduction of water mobility; increase of oil production); - Development of H2S production control methods; - Evaluation of the oil treatment process and development of demulsifying additives; - Assessment of the oil separation process present in produced water; - Treatment, separation and disposal of fluids; - Evaluation and development of paraffin crystallization controllers in refining processes; - Chemical and instrumental analyzes applied to oil; - Synthesis of biofuels; - Development of fiber optic sensors; - Gravel management; - CO2 capture.
