Development and standardization systems polymeric micro and nanoparticulate containing herbal extract Baccharis dracunculifolia for use as antimicrobial in products for organic farming and animal health

Abstract

The Baccharis dracunculifolia is popularly known as rosemary field. Due to the wide variety of secondary metabolites, this plant is well known for its interaction with insects, especially Apis mellifera L., who through produces the green propolis. In studies in Farma cycle, crude extracts of Baccharis dracunculifolia tested in different dilutions were produced using standard vehicle, evaluated for its antimicrobial potential for the development of products with disinfectant action. The effectiveness of the developing product was proven to microorganisms Salmonella choleraesuis, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Candida albicans and Acinetobacter baumannii, according to AOAC methodology 19 °. Ed./2012, Cap. 6.2.01, method 955.14 at a much reduced contact time when compared to the active chemical present in the hospital sanitizing market. The Department of Research and Development Farma cycle, from this active developed and standardized one hospital disinfectant and an antiseptic, registered with ANVISA. Both products presented - be efficient as a bactericide, bacteriostatic and fungiostático and economically viable for the market to which it proposed.However, the crude extract of B. dracunculifolia have low solubility in aqueous media, liposoluble character, odor and very striking color, hindering its placement in certain dosage forms, and give the disinfectant and antiseptic very remarkable odor of propolis. One option to overcome this difficulty is the use of micro and nanoparticles or to increase the solubility of B. dracunculifolia extract in aqueous medium and the improvement of their organoleptic characteristics, contributing to the future of this asset, as an antimicrobial, opening new markets Farma for the cycle as a manufacturer of this input and hospital products previously developed with this plant assets. So this proposal seeks to develop micro and nanoparticles or polymeric systems containing the active Baccharis dracunculifolia with suitable properties for specific applications where the water solubility and the absence of color and odor of the asset are required. Specifically this proposal aims to develop micro polymer systems or nanoparticles from raw materials of low market value, compatible chemically with vegetable and high chemical stability extract, to be applied in the manufacture of products for use in health sectors animal as additives and growth promoters and organic agriculture. The micro and or polymeric nanoparticles containing the plant extract will be characterized in dried form, after drying Spray Dryer or lyophilization. The methods of physical - chemical include Scanning Electron Microscopy, Infrared Spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, thermal analysis (TG and DSC). Such techniques will be applied to evaluate the quality of nanoparticles with BD. The presence of the chemical compounds of plant extract in the micro or nanoparticulate system will be performed by HPLC. (AU)
