Avian infectious bronchitis: interactions between genetic and antigenic variability among infectious bronchitis virus strains and consequences on immunity, immunodiagnosis and immunoprophylaxis of this diasease

Abstract

The aim of this research is to address the scientific and technical development required forthe application of modern and efficacious techniques which are directly linked to thevirology, immunology and molecular biology, in order to produce the essential reagents, as recombinant antigens of infectious bronchitis virus (IBV), phage display chicken monoclonal antibodies, primers and oligo-probes, so we can standardise and runserological assays, particularly the immunoenzymatic reactions (ELISA), with conventionalor recombinat antigens and poli or monoclonal antibodies, and the molecular biological techniques, as RI -PCR, RT-Nested-PCR, ELOSA and Cycle Sequecing to perform more accurately the diagnosis and consequently the detection or identification of the genetic and the antigenic variants of the IBV or the correspondent immune responses against this virus in vaccinated chickens, as well as to evaluate alternative immunogen preparations, like the IBV recombinant antigens raised in yeast.
