Abstract

The present “projeto temático” proposal aims the comparative analysis of the genome of some groups of plants, using Molecular Cytogenetic techniques. The staff involved is interested in the introduction of research work using fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) to map repetitive DNA on the chromosomes, and of in situ hybridization of total genomic DNA (GISH) to analyze genomes of poliploid species and somatic hydrids. The use of this technique allows the visualization of differences in related genomes. (AU)
