Development of soybean genotypes resistant to stem cancker, resistant or not to soybean cyst nematode (race 3) and to powdery mildew and with good agronomic traits

Abstract

This research work will be carried out using segregant populations already available, derived from crosses between resistant and susceptible soybean genotypes to stem cancker and soybean cyst nematode. New populations derived from crosses between genotypes resistant and susceptible to the three diseases will be created, aiming to increase the availability of F2 plants. "RAPD" molecular markers with the ability to identify resistant and susceptible soybean genotypes to stem cancker and soybean cyst nematode have been already identified in previous researches. In this study, an attempt to identify "RAPD" molecular markers linked to the gene that confers resistance to powdery mildew in soybean will be performed. The "RAPD" polymorphic molecular markers for resistance to powdery mildew, as well as the ones already found for stem cancker and soybean cyst nematode (race3) resistance will be converted to "SCAR" markers and used in a selective process aiming the development of new soybean varieties with desirable agronomic traits, resistant to stem cancker and resistant or not to both soybean cyst nematode (race 3) and powdery mildew.
