Abstract

The following points are addressed in the present project: I) detection of the nitro-proteins, performed by immunohistochemistry, in various tissues of animals submitted to different stimuli. II) pharmacological release of nitric oxide from neural and endothelial source, looking at differential modulation. This will be performed by bioassay cascade using the rabbit corpus cavernosum. III) pre-clinical, phase I and phase II evaluation of novel anti-inflammatory compounds coupled with nitric oxide moiety (such as nitroflurbiprofen, nitrofenac and nitroaspirin. IV) pre-clinical pharmacology of novel angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors coupled with nitric oxide moiety (such as nitro-enalapril). (AU)
