Immunological evaluation in uveitis: study of the immune response and of inflammation in an immunoprivileged organ

Abstract

We intend to establish a model of autoimmune uveitis in non-isogenic mice to study the polygenic control of the immune response in autoimmune illnesses. We will study the effect of the absence of IL-4 and IFN-g in the course of experimental chronic autoimmune uveitis (EAU). The importance of inflammatory cytokines in vitreous and aqueous humor will be studied in the experimental model of ocular inflation. We will also study aspects of immunopathogenesis and immunogenetics of coreoretinitis caused by the Toxoplasma gondii, with emphasis on the immunological differentiation. (AU)
