Nuclear reactions in relativistic and astrophysical regimes

Abstract

This project to be undertaken in the Department of Nuclear Physics of the University of São Paulo has the aim of investigating the dynamic of nuclear reactions induced by heavy ions in relativistic and astrophysical regimes. Two important and complementary fronts could be identified as the frontier of knowledge in Nuclear Physics. The first currently experiencing a phase of intense effervescence is the study of nuclear reactions between heavy ions in relativistic regime, which deals with questions on the origin and the process of formation of hadronic matter which currently makes up the universe, according to the Big Bang model. The second studies the processes of nucleosynthesis responsible for the formation of all the known elements in nature. (AU)
