Our group is involved in the sugarcane EST program (SUCEST) funded by FAPESP through Data Mining Projects. The aim of this project is to prospect the SUCEST Data Bank to find sequences sharing similarity with domains of different groups of known transcriptional regulators. The present project will allow us to explore the structure-to-function of some important components of eukariotic transcription providing new insights about its molecular mechanism. Although our great interest in transcription factors, we know that target selection is one the most important strategic concern of structural genomic projects. Taking this into consideration our group will not make any opposition to work with any protein target defined by the coordination of the FAPESP Structural Genomic Program. (AU)
