Abstract

This is a thematic project the aim of which is to study some highly relevant aspects of this state of sleep. The four research groups involved have been working on this subject for some time. The objectives of the project are as follows: a) to investigate the organizational mechanisms of the oneiric activity which occur in desynchronized sleep; b) to investigate the relationship between body temperature and desynchronized sleep; c) recuperation of desynchronized sleep after its suppression through the lesion of the mesencephalic reticular formation; d) relationship of sex to the effects of deprivation of desynchronized sleep as a result of hypersensibility of dopaminergic receptors.
