Abstract

The aim of this project is the development of a low cost sport technology to integrate the multidisciplinary work, essential to the physical conditioning of athletes and physically active people. This proposal becomes viable combining five research groups working simultaneously in three evaluation areas of physical training: prevention of muscular lesions due to the excess of physical effort, quantification of specific physical capacities and nutritional supplements. The first action consists of the simultaneous monitoring, in animals and humans, of the major part of biomarkers of positive adaptation and overtraining, described in the literature, and determined in this project through the proteome of the exercise. Our aim is to make possible the definition of the most sensitive analysis for these two phenomena to be quantified by biosensors which will take part of a new technology for physical evaluation, named as stress threshold. In the field of physical capacities, the development of a biosensor for lactate determination in plasma, to substitute the imported ones, is one of our tasks. Physical evaluation tests are planned to be interpreted by the mathematical model that characterizes and relates the biomechanical and metabolic variables of the system. In the third actuation line there is the development of a drying process of sugar cane juice to be used in the recovery of hepatic and muscular glycogen storages pos-exercise. (AU)
