Nucleus for research into pre-clinical neuroimage (center for experimental neuroimage

Abstract

The present proposal aims to establish a center for pre-clinical imaging to support advanced research in neuro-imaging and experimental neurology. Three research projects make up this thematic project. The first is a study of molecular neuro-imaging in Parkinson's disease (PD), focused on preclinical models of dopaminergic neuro-adaptation in the early and late forms of the disease. The second is aimed at the in vivo finding of hippocampal dopaminergic projections in mice subjected to the experimental model of epilepsy induced by pilocarpine. The third is a study of the functional genomic of PD and aims to clarify the molecular mechanism of the disease, based on analyses of differential genetic expression in four specific encephalic areas. Among the principal results expected are: 1) implantation of a nucleus of preclinical image with use of high resolution SPECT; and 2) important advances in knowledge about epilepsy and PD, focusing on the physiopathology and the molecular mechanisms involved.
