Abstract

In Brazil two species of tortoises exist, to know: Geochelone carbonaria and G. denticulata. These animals are protected by the IBAMA (Brazilian Institute of Environment and the Natural Resources Renewed), not being, however, in extinguishing. Had its good adaptation, these two species can be a good model for the study and understanding of the reproductive physiology of other threatened similar species of extinguishing. For the accompaniment of vitelogenesis in reptiles the comment of mannering and hormonals alterations can be made as well as serving itself of little invasive methods as the X-ray and ultrassonography. Of this form, the methodology of this work was mounted taking in consideration these aspects and wants to determine the characteristic alterations of the reproductive cycle of these two species.
