Abstract
The northeastern region of Brazil has physiographic characteristics which favor the use of spectral remote sensing for mineral exploration. Considering the metallogenetic potential of this region, the Pegmatitic Province of Borborema Seridó PPBS stands out, with over 1,500 pegmatites. This project aims the study of the PPBSpegmatites, through the characterization of the related hydrothermal alteration. The characterization will be carried out using reflectance spectroscopy for identifying the main mineralogic assemblies of the alterated zones, and also using integrated analysis of geological, remote sensing and airborne and ground geophysics. These data sets will be used for lithologic/mineralogical mapping of the altered zones associated with pegmatites and host rocks. With this project, we hope to establish the theoretical, methodological and instrumental basis for prospecting pegmatites in the PPBS and in regions with similar geological characteristics. (AU)
