Abstract

In this work a test rig facility will be constructed in order to test an impedance sensor for vapor phase detection at the inlet of an expansion valve (electronic and/or thermostatic). The research aims to develop an on line system to constantly monitor the fluid refrigerant quality and to make available an electrical signal, which can be used for system controlling purposes to avoid mal-operation conditions of the cycle. The test rig facility will be formed by a standard refrigeration cycle with all necessary instruments, i.e., sensors for measuring pressure, temperature, and flow, as well as a flow visualization section. The behavior of the expansion valve will be analyzed by standard measuring and viewing techniques. The results will be analyzed for the verification of a possible request for intellectual rights.
