The use of artificial intelligence planning for automatic web service composition


Web services have become an important technology for the easy integration of academic and industrial works. They improve the interoperability of the systems and the software reuse in a global scale. An important step toward the development of applications based on Web services is the ability of selecting and integrating inan effective and efficient way heterogeneous services from different sites. When there is no single service capable of performing a task required by a user but there are combinations of existing services that could, it is necessary a composition of these services. Web services manual composition is a complex task and susceptible toerrors because of the dynamic behavior and flexibility of the Web. Recently, a considerable number of researches appeared in industry and in academic level to deal with Web service composition. The main goal of this work is to specify and implement a solution based in Artificial Intelligence Planning to the problem of automatic web services composition that considers the most part of the problem requirements like: non-determinism, partial observation, scalability, etc. In order to specify and implements our proposal we will study and compare some of the most important proposals of the literature. This comparison will be qualitative and quantitative. (AU)
