Abstract

1-Phenyl-2-phenoxyethanone is a compound obtained by organic synthesis through an inexpensive process and with good yield. The compound shows effective antimycobacterial activity on the tuberculosis bacillus Mycobacterium tuberculosis and the compound can be classified as potential candidate for antimycobacterial drug. Then, this work has as aim to study the toxicity and hepatic biotransformation of the 1-Phenyl-2-phenoxyethanone applying tools as cytotoxicity assays, determination of the levels of reduced glutathione, lipid peroxidation and enzymatic activity of P450 cytochromes in hepatocites. This study will allow us a better comprehension of the mechanistic pathways of this molecule. (AU)
