Abstract

This project presents a procedure to separate sources of self-potential fields measured in geophysical well-logging, for oil, gas, and groundwater exploration. Initially we develop a feasibility study showing that source fields can be separated by varying salt concentration of the perforation mud and repeating SP measurements. Since feasibility analysis was favorable, we are planing to test this methodology in a laboratory facility simulating the wellbore. This study may delineate a process to determine the hydraulic permeability and water concentration from conventional geophysical logs (SP, flowmeter, and resistivity) , which may find interest in oil and groundwater industries (AU)
