Abstract

Surface hydrophobia and lipophobia are associated to the chemical proprieties and to the surface morphology. Recent works have been studied micro and nanofabricated surfaces, including morphological replicas present in the nature. Several models have been proposed in the last few years to explain the superhydrophobia and the lipophobia of lithographed surfaces. Specifically in this project we will explore the hydrophobicity and lipophobicity of surfaces with periodic micro and nanostructures. The original aspect of this work is the metric scale of these structures. Our proposal is to define a periodic pattern and to study the surface hydrophobia and lipophobia with lithographed structures in scales between 100 μm e 40 nm. The results will be analyzed and compared with the literature, taking in account the theories proposed until now. Concluding the proposal, we will fabricate a macroscopic piece with self-cleaning properties, transferring a periodic pattern to the surface, using fotolithography in areas of about few hundreds of square centimeters.
