Abstract

Obesity and related diseases are considered important public health issues, even in patients with severe mental disorders. Wellness Program is a non pharmacological intervention for severe mental disorders patients, aiming to improve quality of life and prevent weight gain related diseases. A randomized multicentric controlled trial will be executed comparing patients with severe mental disorders with intervention, compared to waiting list on regular treatment. 180 patients will be selected, and will be randomized in two groups (90 per group). Weight, BMI, blood pressure, waist and hip circumferences, fasting glucose, cholesterol, triglycerides, insulin, bioimpedance, physical activity, quality of life, daily activities, tabagism will be assessed before and after the intervention and the groups will be compared.
