Abstract

Banana is grown in 2500 ha in Médio Vale do Paranapanema region and is showing great expansion as an alternative to grain crops. Despite the importance of the banana to fruit crop production in Brazil, there is a lack of information on the influence of plant nutritional status on fruit quality in order to assure good recommendations to the growers. The objective of this study is to evaluate the relationship between nutritional status of plants and fruit yield and quality during two crop cycles. Leaf and soil samples will be collected and analyzed. Fruit quality will be evaluate at harvest and post-harvest. Results of the nutritional survey will be correlated with fruit yield and quality.
