Abstract

One of the most relevant initiatives of research in new product development (NPD) is the adoption of modularity. In this context, the scope of this research project involves modularity theory and its implications related to its concept. It aims at identifying aspects of modularity adoption within the automotive industrial sector. Specifically, the objective of this project is to identify how value-added activities are transferred throughout the supply chain. To this general objective, the research project aims at identifying the level of modularity adoption in companies in the automotive supply chain and the means of value-added transfer between first and second tiers. The project employs multi-method approach considering a survey and subsequent multiple case study. (AU)
