Abstract

This project proposes to create a small media lab in order to promote workshops about media education for teachers and pupils of the Secondary School within the area called Codes, Languages and Their Technologies. The goals are to investigate, in a comparative way, how teachers and students learn about media, which are the similarities and differences between the performance of the two groups and what are the most appropriated methods to promote de media literacy, considering both the peculiarities of the Brazilian schooling and the international media literacy paradigms. The methodology consists of the application of school activities using six main techniques: textual analysis, context study, content analysis, case study, translation and simulation-production. The hypothesis is that focusing activities to prepare people to use media can diminish differences between the teachers and pupil backgrounds about the subject, can stimulate the development of the language skills in a general way and can promote the collaborative learning, in a social approach.
