Abstract

With the advance of information technologies and the development of computational infrastructures, such as networks capable of interconnecting up to millions of computers scattered throughout the world,we have at our disposal today enormous computational resources at relatively low costs. The possibility of using groups of computers in the search for solutions to complex problems is today a palpable and desirable reality. However, there are numerous difficulties in managing the processing of data in mass parallel environments, also called computational grids. In this research project, we propose the commercial development of a software platform capable of managing an arbitrarily large group of computers in the sense of making them work cooperatively on the solution of complex problems. Such a platform will permit, in this way, the computational power latent in networks of computers of whatever dimensions to be taken advantage of and at low cost. (AU)
