Abstract

The expansion of the socio and economics activities of the humanity has been main responsible for the modification and the destruction of the environment, narrowing the physical barriers between the man with domestic and wild animals. Some species are threatened of extinguishing due to reduction of habitat, while others can adapt in places with great ambient alteration. The opossums are animals very flexible in the respect to the great variety of habitat that they can occupy. Moreover, they are reservoirs of innumerable illnesses with zoonotic potential. This way, it is very important to know the infectious and parasitic agents who this species can lodge to establish a program of control and prevention for captive wild and domestic animals and human. Given to this, it is intended to evaluate the frequency of antibodies against Leptospira spp. in animals in the area of the Campus of the FCAV-Unesp city of Jaboticabal, harvesting and analyzing samples of blood of opossums of free life (Didelphis spp.), deer (dichotomus; Mazama spp.) and paca (Paca Agouti) of the scientific-shed of the FCAV-UNESP Jaboticabal, beyond domestic animals, being they swines, equines, bovines, sheep, goat, dogs and cats, the last two ones in such free live or created in kennel. The antibodies against Leptospira spp. will be detected by the MAT..Will be used 24 serovares as antigen of Leptospira spp. The laboratories tests will be carried through in the Laboratory of leptospirosis of the Department of Medicine Veterinary Preventive and Animal Reproduction of the FCAV-Unesp Jaboticabal.
