Abstract

This research proposal seeks to develop formal aspects associated with adaptive devices and apply them to the areas of artificial intelligence and computational models. Some issues not yet fully researched refer to the semantics of adaptive devices, including the widespread introduction of these hybrid models and the simplification of its formal structure.In relation to artificial intelligence, we try to use different techniques of Computational Intelligence, such as genetic algorithms and swarm intelligence, coupled with the Adaptive Technology to promote computational learning and the evolution of a computing device during its process of performing tasks. The main expected contributions are of two kinds: technological and scientific. Among the technological contributions stand out, firstly, developing a framework for the construction and simulation of computational models based on swarm intelligence and genetic algorithms, and secondly, the establishment of a framework for defining and solving problems using computational intelligence. As expected scientific contributions stand out the integration of the theory of adaptive devices with the theories and techniques of the general problem solvers and self-modifying systems, the formalization of the application of adaptive techniques to swarm intelligence and genetic algorithms and the study of the semantic features of adaptivity.
