Abstract

Salivary gland neoplasms account for 3 percent of all head and neck tumors, thus the importance in better knowing them. The variable histological aspects must be known as to better treat them. Molecular biology of these tumors are not completely understood. Pleomorphic adenoma is the most frequent benign neoplasm while adenoid cystic carcinoma is one of the most frequent of the malignant neoplasms, thus in the present study we aim to study the Akt pathway in these tumors, through the investigation of the proteins MDM2 and NfKB.
