Abstract

Electron spin is a subject of intense investigation currently in the field of spintronics - a new and very promising line of research that could lead to important practical applications in microelectronics. The spin Hall effect is an effective method to vary the driving current of spin in a spin device, a key factor in spintronic devices. The main objective of this project is to study the spin Hall effect in double quantum wells of GaAs and InAs for applications in spintronics. The main focus of this proposal is to optimize the geometry of the structure with the goal of increasing the spin-orbit interaction of electrons with the analysis of the effects of spin double quantum wells. This goal will be achieved through the implementation of the Kerr effect measurements with temporal resolution and transportation. The benefits of this project for Brazil are developing techniques of growth necessary to achieve double quantum wells of high quality and possible application of this knowledge (or its consequences) in future devices.
