Different doses in morfine by epidural injected in the bitches for ovariosalpingohisterctomy accomplishment

Abstract

The veterinary anesthesiology is always seeking new options for more protocols increasingly safe and versatile, seeking greater security and welfare of patients. The aim of this study is to investigate the use of morphine in different doses associated with ropivacaine or levobupivacaine for epidural block in bitches ovariosalpingohisterectomy. Will be used 48 mixed-breed female dogs weighing 15.0 ± 6.0 kg allocated in six experimental groups: group 1 (n = 8): ropivacaine + morphine (0.15mg kg-1); group 2 (n = 8): ropivacaine + morphine (0.2 mg kg-1); group 3 (n = 8): levobupivacaine alone; group 4 (n = 8): levobupivacaine + morphine (0.1 mg kg-1); group 5 (n = 8): levobupivacaine + morphine (0.15 mg kg-1) and group 6 (n = 8): levobupivacaine + morphine (0.2 mg kg-1). Heart and respiratory rate, indirect systolic arterial pressure, rectal temperature, serum cortisol and blood lactate, blood arterial gas partial pressures and plasma morphine, ropivacaine and levobupivacaine will be evaluated in eight experimental moments. The results will be submitted to variance analysis with measures repeated for variables with normal distribution, using the program SAS and significance level of 5% (p<0.05). Those variables with distribution not normal will be submitted to nonparametric test (for ordinal qualitative variables) of Kruskal - Wallis. This test will be to compare groups at each time, while the Friedman test to compare times in each group. The Chi-square test will be used to analyze associations between qualitative variables and their nominal answer. (AU)
