Abstract

The project aims the developing and obtaining of inactivated viral preparations, with vaccinal potential for parvovirus, virus of interest for Brazilian swine production. For the viral inactivation it will be used high hydrostatic pressure in combination with other agents. Initially the efficiency of inactivation will be find in studies in vitro, and after in vivo, by determination of its immunogenicity. The epitopes with biotechnological interest will be identified by spot synthesis technique, which consists in planned array of peptides related to the target proteins. To evaluate the efficacy of the obtained preparations, swine SPF (specific pathogen free) will be first immunized with the respective inactivated virus, and then challenged with those not inactivated. The results will be compared using the vaccine commercially available. The project could generate patents of the inactivated preparations. The tobacco mosaic virus will be investigated as a model of antigenicity, since their preparation and study are very accessible. (AU)
