Cardiovascular response during exercise treadmill test, peripheral vasodilatation, and genetic polymorphisms of alpha-adrenergic receptors and nitric oxide synthase enzyme in patients underwent cardiological examination

Abstract

Individuals without overt heart disease may have different responses during exercise treadmill test. We formulate the hypothesis that cardiovascular response to exercise treadmill test may vary with peripheral vasodilatation capacity and with genetic polymorphisms of alpha-adrenergic receptors and endothelial nitric oxide synthase enzyme. Objectives: to evaluate the relation between cardiovascular response during exercise testing (functional capacity and, chronotropic and pressoric response), forearm vasodilatation by means of venous occlusion plethysmography and genetic polymorphisms of alpha-adrenergic receptors and endothelial nitric oxide synthase. Methods: 500 male and female subjects underwent to cardiologic examination that included medical examination, blood tests and exercise treadmill test. The peripheral vasodilatadory response will be estimated by forearm blood flow response at rest and during isometric exercise (handgrip maneauver). Blood samples will be collected for biochemistry analysis and determination of the following genetic polymorphisms: endotelial nitric oxide synthase enzyme (-786T/C e Glu298Arg), alphalA adrenergic receptor (Arg347Cys), alpha2A adrenergic receptor (Asn251Lys e C1291G), alpha2B adrenergic receptor (Ins/Del 301-303 e 12Glu9) and alpha2C adrenergic receptor (Del 322-325).
