Abstract

Belonging to the Euphorbiacea family, Jatropha curcas L. is a plant with many attributes, multiple uses and considerable potential. Its use as a feedstock for the production of biodiesel has been widely discussed and evaluated, by attending some of the basic premises of the National Program for Production and Use of Biodiesel, like presenting a positive energy balance, an efficient use of land, work generation, social inclusion and quality of life. This research project aims to study and evaluate the management of Jatropha curcas, especially space arrangements aiming the maximum agricultural productivity, concurrently the high oil quality. (AU)
