Abstract

The control of the urban pests in the São Paulo city involves, among other actions, the application of insecticides and rodenticides, that due their toxicity becomes necessary the use of personal protective equipments (PPE) on the part of the operational in all of the stages of the procedure. After the use, PPE should be clean and kept in an appropriate way; masks, boots and gloves should be clean with humid cloth and the uniform, constituted by shirt of long mangos, trousers and bonnet, washed so that the residues are removed. There is a growing concern with the possible current risks of environmental contamination of the water resulting from the cleaning of those equipments liberated in the net of sanitary exhaustion. Like this, it is necessary the evaluation of the concentration of active ingredient (a.i.) present in the water of wash of PPE used in the routine service exercised to controlling urban pests, be for the public service is for the controlling companies of curses. This work will verify the retention level obtained by the uniforms of cotton of PPE after the use in insecticides application and also after its wash. Also the presence of the a.i. and/or their degradation products in the water resulting from the wash of the uniforms will be evaluated. Its will be analyzed the first water liberated by the machine and the second water separately. The results will make possible the safe discard of the water resulting from the wash of PPE used in the chemical control of the urban pests, minimizing the risks to the worker and contributing to the environmental quality.
