Abstract

The commercial use of Internet has created the opportunity of a business model transformation, once using this tool, many barriers to access new markets, resources and competitive position could be reduced or eliminated. Besides, the Internet allow to small and medium companies being visited and accessed in such a way the big companies are. In this scenario, this project has the objective of analyzing how Small Companies took the opportunity of entering the digital world to increase their share, diminishing operational costs and obtaining another ways of competitive advantage, identifying which were the strategy and the organizational structure used for that. Another objective is identifying the main barriers to use Internet as a strategic tool in the e-business. The method that will be employed is an exploratory study through case studies in a first step and a survey in the second step. As results, we expect building an Internet Business Model to the SMEs and the generation of empirical research to be put into practice by the coordinator and her students (Doctoral, Master and "Iniciação Científica"), increasing the knowledge about the SMEs organizational structure (and the most adequate business model) in order to achieve he better results from the Internet opportunities.
