Abstract
The goal is study in Santa Ines lambs of 20-24 weeks of age in homozygous for FecGE gene, onset of puberty, follicular growth, ovulation and luteal activity after treatment with progesterone. In the first experiment, initially be detected in the absence of cyclicity of prepubertal lambs. Subsequently, the lambs will be divided into three groups of 6 animals (G1, G2 and G3). The first group will be subjected to a stimulus with progestin for 12 days (1.5 mg subcutaneous implant norgestomet/1/2 Crestar ®), the second of two consecutive stimuli with progestin for 12 days (Crestar ®) and the third will remain as a control separate and socially. The development of the reproductive tract and ovarian response will be evaluated by obtaining the diameter of uterine ultrasonography and laparoscopy in 3 experimental moments. The second experiment will be conducted in prepubertal females in homozygous carriers (n = 8, Group FecGE = HO +) and noncarriers (n = 8, Group = FecGE-), gene FecGE with 60% of mature weight and score body condition score e 3.0. Ewe lambs (n = 16) of both groups will be submitted to progestins (1.5 mg subcutaneous implant norgestomet/1/2 Crestar ®) for 12 days. During the experiment the females will undergo ultrasound imaging for assessment of follicular growth, ovulation and reproductive tract development by achieving the highest uterine diameter, and blood samples to assess the profile of progesterone. The development will be assessed by body weight, body condition score ECC and body mass index BMI. The chances are that the experimental stimulus progestins provides the ultimate development of the reproductive tract in lambs from 20 to 24 weeks of age and lambs carry the gene in homozygous FecGE respond differently to the use of progestins in pre-pubertal showing an increase in number of follicles and ovulation and better final development of the reproductive tract.
